His background is in Mechanical Engineering,\u00a0 and he was elected as Assistant Professor at the Cyprus University of Technology in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering in September 2014. Prior to this appointment he was a Lecturer in Engineering at King\u2019s College London, University of London (2009 &#8211; 2013), where he established the Biofluids and Biorheology Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He also completed his Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Research\u00a0 (September 2005 &#8211; June 2009)\u00a0 at the same institution.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Kaliviotis is a member of the Advisory Committee and Cyprus Representative in the <em>European Society for Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, <\/em>member in the <em>Hellenic Society of Rheology<\/em>, member of the Steering Committee in the <em>European Research Community on Flow Turbulence and Combustion &#8211;<\/em> <em>Special Interest Group in Biofluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer <\/em>(ERCOFTAC SIG37). She studied Chemistry at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and completed her Masters and her PhD in Chemical Engineering, at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. She is currently a member of the Biorheology Laboratory\u00a0 and of the Thermodynamics and Transport Phenomena Laboratory of Dr. P. Stephanou. She is also a member of the research team in the CRaFTC project. She holds a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Cyprus University of Technology, and she has obtained a MSc in Medical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart (Germany). Her master studies focused on the area of optical systems and methods in medical engineering, biomechanics and bionic. He has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from UCL and he joined the Biorheology\u00a0 Laboratory in July 2020.\u00a0 He is involved in the DIACTMOND research project and his research includes examining blood flow in microchannels, red blood cell velocimetry in the microscale, image analysis, and other device development related issues.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 164px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" title=\"Pasias1\" src=\"http:\/\/web.cut.ac.cy\/biorheology\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/93\/2019\/04\/Pasias1.jpg\" alt=\"Pasias1\" width=\"154\" height=\"206\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dimitris Pasias<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Dimitris studied Mechanical Engineering\u00a0 at Imperial College London, and obtained a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from\u00a0 Cyprus University of Technology. His interest in Fluid and Biofluid Mechanics led him to\u00a0 a relevant project in the Biorheology Laboratory. He is based at Egeblad Laboratory in Stony Brook University.
