We are delighted to invite you to attend the V International Postharvest Unlimited Conference held under the auspices of the International Society of Horticultural Science (ISHS). The Conference is a joint initiative of the Cyprus University of Technology, Department of Agricultural Sciences, Biotechnology & Food Science and the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, Greece, under the constant support of Cyprus Tourism Organisation.
The Conference will be held in one of the most well-known resorts of the Mediterranean area, the Aphrodite Hills, Intercontinental Hotel, located between Paphos and Limassol, from 10th to 13th of June, 2014.This time of the year is regarded ideal for vacation due to superb Mediterranean climate. Delegates and their accompanying persons may enjoy safe crystal blue beaches, golfing and a very interesting and vivid nightlife.
Towards the establishment of new links and collaborations among participants, the V Postharvest Unlimited Symposium aims to bring together researchers from diverse fields of study who share a common interest in postharvest science. The conference will provide the opportunity for scientists, professionals and students to present their latest findings and discuss their current work related with basic and applied aspects in postharvest issues. We hope the meeting will promote the exchange of ideas and international cooperation and collaboration among researchers. The congress will be comprised of plenary and ordinary sessions, workshops and poster display sessions that are expected to provide new knowledge and promote scientific dialogues during the conference.
Τhe main conference topics are (1) system biology approaches and new insights in postharvest physiology, (2) innovations in postharvest technology, (3) fresh produce quality and supply chain management, (4) effects of ripening and storage on nutritional and functional components in horticultural commodities. Exceptionally, this event is supported by the COST Actions FA1104 ‘Sustainable production of high-quality cherries for the European market’ and FA1106 ‘An integrated systems approach to determine the developmental mechanisms controlling fleshy fruit quality in tomato and grapevine’.
