Software Engineering and Intelligent Information Systems Research Lab

The SEIIS Research Lab is part of the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics (co-located and operating with the Department of Electrical Engineering) at the Cyprus University of Technology.

• The director of the lab is Professor Andreas S. Andreou.
• The research work and efforts of the lab’s members and collaborators aim at producing high quality research results.
• The lab hosts students working closely with its members on topics of its interests in the context of both theses leading to the award of undergraduate and graduate degrees.
• Members of the lab have participated in a number of funded projects, both at national and European level.

An important parameter of the international recognition that the University enjoys is the universities’ international rankings. In less than 10 years of operation, the CUT has occupied high positions in international rankings. Specifically, in the 2017-18Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE), the CUT is ranked 351-400 worldwide, while in the year 2016-17 it has been ranked among the top 401-500 universities worldwide as well as 16th among the world’s top Universities. At the 2017 Young University Rankings, the CUT is ranked 88th in the top new universities in the world, 12th top-of-the-line university and 201-250 among the top European universities. The international networking of the university is realized through its participation in 67 international organizations and bilateral cooperation with 78 universities abroad which lead to beneficial inter-university synergies. In addition, the internationalization strategy is enhanced through its participation in the Erasmus mobility programme and the national management of the IAESTE programme.

Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering and Informatics

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering and Informatics (EECEI) combines the areas of Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Computer Science in a single interdisciplinary Department. Students pre-select one of the two programs of studies; that of Electrical Engineering and that of Computer Engineering and Informatics. The objectives of the EECEI program are designed to promote technical competence, professional development and citizenship in the Cyprus and global community. Looking ahead in the future, the trend of globalisation and the place of Cyprus as a member of the European Union dictate training of our students to be competitive when it comes to job qualifications, further studies abroad, exchange programs etc in any part of the world.
