Main objective: to generate evidence (data) supporting the hypothesis that integration of environmental (TDC) exposures and dietary/lifestyle patterns could substantially increase our understanding of thyroid nodules development and disease progression.
Specific aims:
- Investigate the magnitude and variability of human exposures to thyroid-disrupting chemicals (TDC) in a case-control Cypriot population
- Identify associations between TDC in urine and thyroid hormonal status
- Validate our population results with a similar sample of thyroid patients and controls in Romania characterized by similar lifestyle and dietary habits
