Agilent Gc-ms/ms Triple
Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer
The laboratory is a spacious facility housing wet and dry research benches, tools, and equipment.
The laboratory houses both environmental and biological samples preparation equipment such as liquid-liquid (LLE) and solid phase (SPE) extraction set-up (Biotage off-line automated module), solvent evaporator (N-EVAP 111, Nitrogen evaporator, Organomation Associates Inc., USA), and analytical instrumentation such as gas chromatograph coupled with a triple quadruple mass spectrometer (GC/MS/MS) (Agilent 7890A/7000B GC/MS/MS with split/splitless, PTV, and CoC inlets, 7693A automatic liquid sampler, Mass Hunter software, Fiehn GC/MS metabolomics RTL library, and Mass Profiler Professional features), and an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) (Thermo XSeries 2, Thermo Scientific, Germany).
Agilent Intuvo 9000 Gas Chromatograph System
Other equipment/capabilities include temperature controlled incubator, shaker, and centrifuge.Access to other equipment such as ion chromatograph (IC), UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, GC/FID, and HPLC/UV is available at collaborators’ laboratories on campus.
Agilent Sample
Prep Automated Platform
Long term storage facilities for human biological samples is achieved with an ultra-low temperature freezer that operates between -50 and -86 °C and 668 liters storage capacity (Sanyo, MDF-U7386S), and two refrigerators that operates between 4 to -20 °C (Liebherr Premium and Samsung). Short-term storage of samples at lower temperatures is attained using ice chests during field/site collection and transportation.
