Within the framework of the EACEA AQUASYN project, the Cyprus International Institute for Environmental and Public Health in association with the Harvard School of Public Health and the development organization Talos, organized on 11/03/2015, an educational seminar on the subject of ‘Bottled Water Quality Management: From Bottling to Consumption’. The participants were representatives from well-known companies in the field of bottled water in Cyprus and the aim of theseminar was the training of individuals working in the bottled water sector on the subject of endocrine disruptors’ leaching in bottled water.
The seminar was a combination of presentation and discussion and companies’ representatives showed particular interest on the subject and mentioned some practices they follow in order to reduce the presence of chemical substances in bottled water. Moreover, the importance of bottles’ transfer, storage and use under the appropriate conditions, from the moment they leave the factory until they reach the consumer, especially during the summer season, was stated.
The AQUASYN project is co-funded by the European Commission’s Lifelong Learning Programme and aims to develop the knowledge and skills of the staff of enterprises in the field of bottled water through online (e-learning) and offline (educational seminars) training sessions.
