Elina Ioannou
Elina Ioannou is a Registered Clinical Dietitian. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and holds a Master’s Diploma in Public Health Nutrition from Harokopio University of Athens.
She worked as a nutrition consultant in the communications department of Coca-Cola in Athens for three years. There, she participated in the development of one of the first innovative, most successful and long-lasting corporate responsibility programs tackling childhood obesity in Greece, entitled “Change Attitude, Get in Action”.
As of November of 2008, she works as a Clinical Dietitian in Limassol and Paphos State General Hospitals. She is responsible of the hospitals’ nutrition departments and the overall dietary intervention and treatment of both outpatients and in patients. She has a demonstrated experience in clinical nutrition and non communicable diseases. Her special interests are diabetes, chronic intestinal failure, chronic kidney disease, critical illness, perioperative nutrition, obesity and cancer.
Elina is an active health care professional and has given nutrition related lectures in local and international conferences, dietetics students and the public. She is the first Cypriot Teacher and the coordinator in Cyprus of the LLL educational program of the European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism.
She recently joined the Water and Health Lab of the Cyprus Institute of Environmental and Public Health as a PhD candidate where she works under the supervision of Professor Konstantinos C. Makris.
