The article highlighted the need for measures for reducing the burden of cancer in Cyprus, as Cyprus has one of the highest incidence rates of thyroid cancer among children and adolescents in the world. Systematic epidemiological surveillance schemes are necessary for understanding the cancer risk factors and the CHILDREN_FIRST was reported as an example of primary school children monitoring program.
